How to STOP Raging in CSGO

Raging in CSGO is often some people’s highlights, but we’ve all felt really down at one stage when playing the game. Whether you’ve played against a hacker or your team is failing to hold a bomb site, anger can often just pour out of you – even if you’re the chilliest player out there. Today, we look at some ways to stop raging in CSGO and be a better person, and teammate for years to come.

Side Note: There comes a time where raging in games may transpire into “real-life” circumstances, and taking anger out of the video game onto other people can often lead to negative impacts on you, and others around you. If this is happening, we highly recommend speaking to a legal and authorized anger management specialist, or if you feel you are putting yourself in danger or others around you – contact local authorities and take deep breaths.

Find the reason you’re raging in CSGO.

You don’t get angry at games for no reason – Games are supposed to be fun and because of that, your rage will have been triggered by something. Who is to blame? Is it you, your teammates, the game, your internet? Find out the reason you’re raging and run through the following steps;

  1. Can the problem be fixed?
    1. Would restarting the internet, game, help the issue? Could you politely and calmly tell your teammates that they should be moving to another site faster?
  • If a problem can’t be fixed, how can you try to limit its effect?
    • Would you playing on another site, or in a different play style help the game? Could you move your position around a house to get better internet connection? Could you use a worse mouse, but one that actually works?
  • If nothing can be done, how do you mitigate (resolve) your rage?
    • If nothing can be done – can you leave the game? Can you simply stop playing for a few moments until you can calm down. Some of the reasons below will help you understand and help you calm down.

Why you have to be mad? It’s only video game.

We don’t really want to use the meme here, but it’s true. Video games in general, and especially CSGO are meant to provide you with a great level of fun and competition. CSGO can be very frustrating at times when strange angles and bad connections can literally ruin your mood for the whole night.

If you find yourself raging at CSGO, then maybe CSGO isn’t the game you should be playing at that time.

Find another “Calm” game / Safe-space Game

Finding a calm game, or a safe-space game can often be beneficial. Make sure you find a game that you can simply not rage at.  A lot of people play Minecraft, Genshin Impact, or even Osu that will prevent people from raging when they are at their angriest.

Playing such a game for 20 minutes or longer may even help calm you down totally, enough to play more games like CSGO in the same day. Be sure to take breaks from these games too!

Turn Negative Thoughts into a Positive One

Turning negative thoughts into a positive one isn’t always the easiest way to combat rage. Let’s get into a scenario. You planted the bomb at B site, but 2 members of your team are at A and the other two team mates have just died behind you. – You die.

This can be the most annoying thing to happen, when the enemy team can defuse the bomb without even needing to look for any other kills because they know your teammates are at least 20 seconds away. Instead of screaming down the mic, simply keep the mic off. Take a deep breath, and maybe complain to yourself, but not in the chat – as this will only aggravate the rest of your team and make the situation worse. Take a 10-second break, breath deep and before speaking to your teammates, suggest they should’ve been with you, or helped with information to help you move from one site to another.

CSGO is a team-game and if they’re not playing it correctly, then that’s on them – and not you. The below way to stop raging in CSGO is also another option you can deploy, if possible, to avoid raging and situations like this.

Play with people you Know

Playing with people you know may not make the situation any better, but it may help improve the quality of the game, and may even help you win more games. When playing as a team, communications can be 10-fold better than standard voice chat when solo-queuing in the game.

Playing as a team, with people you know may also help you calm down, as other conversations may be being held that can infuse happiness and joyfulness into the chat. You’re also less-likely to flame someone you know, or at least you shouldn’t.

Take Constant Breaks to stop Raging in CSGO

I’ve witnessed this both from being the gamer, and the receiver. Taking breaks from games can be crucial and not only this but will also help you stop raging at CSGO. Don’t sit at your PC or laptop for more than 2-3 games at any one time. Simply stand up, go get some food, a drink, go for a walk, or do another task that is away from the PC.

You will be amazed at how much a 10-minute break can do for you. We strongly advice playing for maybe 2-3 hours before you need a break, in which you can spend how you like – or even play your calm game to help relax your head!
