How to Hide the HUD (Display) in CSGO

The HUD in CSGO is one of the main factors of the game, allowing you to see enemy’s on the map, how many bullets you have left in your weapon and most importantly, your health. Whilst by default the HUD is always on, you may find yourself wanting to turn off the HUD for several reasons. Let’s find out how to hide the HUD or Display in CSGO.

Note: You will need to enable your console first within CSGO. You can refer to our guide on “How to end Warmup in CSGO”, as the first section covers how to enable the developer console in CSGO.

How to Hide the HUD (Display) in CSGO

To truly hide the heads up display, you may also just want death notifications too. These are the small notifications in the top-right when players are killed. This guide will also cover how to turn that on.

To Hide the HUD (Ammo, Team-mates, Health, Death Notifications) – Write the following command in your console:

  • cl_drawhud 0 (the default value is 1)

Note: The above command will remove everything, including the crosshair.

To hide everything but Death Notifications – Write the following command in the console:

  • cl_draw_only_deathnotices 1

Note: This will remove the HUD as above, but will leave the ‘Death Notices’ in the top right corner of your game.

You may also want to hide the clan-names from showing too. By default, this command is labled as “1” and is enabled, however you can turn this off to show only the username of the user. To do this, enter the following command into your console.

  • cl_show_clan_in_death_notice 0  – (1 is active and default)

How to re-enable the HUD (Display in CSGO

To enable the HUD, or to revert any of the above commands, it is very simple. In CSGO, the vast majority of commands including the above state the number “1” to be enabled/active, and “0” to be disabled/not active.

With this being said, to enable or disable something, simply change them from 1 to 0, or 0 to 1 depending on which command you used.

Some people may get confused as to why people want this in CSGO. For the most part, there is no real tactical advantage to using no HUD, however there are a wide-range of uses for it. Here are just some of the most common reasons people want to disable the HUD in CSGO:

  • GOTV Reviews for Player Analysis
  • GOTV Replays for Cheating Analysis
  • Montage Clips (clips look better without the HUD)
  • Because you want to play CSGO HARDCORE VERSION. (We’re kidding…but go ahead, try it)
